This 4 day school comprises a range of lectures by science communicators from around the world, looking at the quality, style and efficiency of current science communication techniques. Held in Sicily from the 6 – 9 July 2009, lecture titles include:

Lunchtime Library training workshops April 28, 2009

The Summer timetable of Library lunchtime training workshops has been announced!

Sessions on using databases (including Web of Science), Refworks (reference management software) and using the Internet for academic research could be particularly useful for Humanities students. Full details can be found on the Library’s website.

Spiral is Imperial College’s institutional repository. It contains full-text, peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers from academic staff at Imperial, as well as Phd theses from Imperial research students.
Each month a list of the top 20 most accessed Spiral publications is made available, and you can see the list for March now.

 

Localisation Course: Interview April 23, 2009

Imperial College is running a short course on Translation Technology: Localisation. Localisation is to do with the translation and cultural adaptation of a range of materials, including software and games.
You can hear an interesting interview (or read the transcript) with Daniela Ford, the couse developer, and Mark Shuttleworth – head of the Translation Studies Dept at Imperial. This interview discusses localisation and what it is, and gives information on the course and what is involved, and can be found on the Imperial Monthly Magazine podcast list, February 2009.
