E-books are a growing part of our Library collections here at Imperial Library. We hold various titles in the Humanities,including Oxford Music Online , Oxford Reference Online: Premium Collection (this includes language dictionaries and reference works), MyiLibrary (includes various Humanities related titles).

My Imperial Gateway Launched September 25, 2008

‘My Imperial’ is a student’s gateway to web based services, to support and enhance their student experience and life at Imperial. They can personalise this portal to access their favourite websites, links and applications. New material  is planned for Staff in the future.

You can access ‘My Imperial’ portal via any of the following methods:

  • www.imperial.ac.uk/myimperial
  • Log in at the bottom of any Imperial webpage
  • Links on Imperial web pages, for example: Student Resources, Student Union, Student Hub, Library, Registry, Live! etc. (operational before start of term)
  • Click on the ‘My Imperial’ Icon on the college cluster desktop computers
 

Referencing Guides for 2008 September 23, 2008

The Library has released the latest versions of its guides to referencing. We have guides available for all you need to know about referencing in either Harvard or Vancouver style.

Early Closure of Central Library Thursday 2nd October September 17, 2008

The Central Library is closing on Thursday, 2 October, at 2.30pm, in preparation for the official opening by the Rector of the newly refurbished Level 1.

 

Society for the Social History of Medicine Postgraduate Conference September 5, 2008

The Society for the Social History of Medicine in association with the Centre for the History of Medicine in Ireland, University College Dublin/University of Ulster is calling for papers for this conference.

From the website:

“We invite proposals for papers and panels exploring aspects of the theme ‘Medicine and Healthcare: History and Context’ in all its historical manifestations. The aim of the SSHM postgraduate conference is to draw together students from established Wellcome Trust Centres and attract students studying the history of medicine within different academic environments. To this end, papers will contextualize the history of medicine and healthcare in political, military and policy history, economic and social history, local, national and global history, and the history of work and professionalisation.

300-word proposals should be sent to pgconf@sshm.org before 30 November 2008.

Grove Music Online is part of our Oxford Music Online subscription. This database is a premier collection of material devoted to musical scholarship and research.
Grove has recently updated its content, reflecting changes in the music world such as the passing of the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
Why not log on to Oxford Music Online today and brush up on your musical knowledge.

Oxford Music Online is available offsite using your College Username & Password , or onsite via IP access.
